IBOB Player for Android TV
By the IBOB Player team · Published · Updated
IBOB Player is a media player for Android TV. It plays live TV, movies and series from your own M3U or Xtream playlist, so you keep full control of where your content comes from. This guide covers installing the app, adding a playlist and activating your device.
IBOB Player does not provide channels, playlists or subscriptions. Only add playlists you are legally entitled to use.
What you need
- An Android TV device (smart TV, set-top box or projector) running Android 8.0 or newer.
- A playlist from your own provider: either an M3U/M3U8 link or Xtream-style login details (server URL, username and password). See M3U and Xtream playlists explained.
- An internet connection on the TV.
Step 1: Install IBOB Player
There are several ways to get the app onto your Android TV. Use whichever is available on your device:
- Downloader app: install the Downloader app from your TV’s app store, open it and enter the code 2993432. It fetches the current IBOB Player APK.
- Direct download: the latest APK is also linked from the Download section on the IBOB Player home page.
- APK stores: search for IBOB Player on ApkPure or Aptoide if you already use them.
When installing an APK outside the store, Android asks you to allow installs from that app (for example Downloader). Allow it for the install, then you can switch it back off.
Step 2: Open the app and note your device details
On first launch the app starts your 30-day free trial. Two details identify your device when you activate a plan:
- the device key, shown on the splash screen;
- the MAC address, under Settings, then About device, inside the app.
Step 3: Add your playlist
Playlists are managed from your account on this website: sign in through the portal, add your M3U link or Xtream details, and the playlist syncs to the devices linked to your account. IBOB Player supports M3U and Xtream playlists and up to five of them at once.
Step 4: Activate after the trial
When the free trial ends, a plan activates the device. Read how activation works, then choose a plan from the pricing section. If you bought through a reseller, give them the device key and MAC address and the licence activates as soon as the app next checks in.
Handy features on a TV
- Parental controls: lock profiles by rating or category.
- Multi list: keep up to five playlists and switch between them quickly.
- Remote-first interface: built for a TV remote rather than a mouse.
Troubleshooting
- App won’t install: make sure installs from the installer app (Downloader, browser) are allowed, and that the device runs Android 8.0 or newer.
- Playlist is empty: confirm the link or login works with your provider and that the playlist is saved in your account, then reopen the app.
